Singer. Voice coach. Performance consultant. TEDx speaker.
Voice & Performance Coach Carolyn Thompson — Sensei Carolyn to her students — is a singer and performer with 35 years across live performance, coaching, media and education. For years she led bands and held long residencies at Toronto venues including Harlem Restaurant and Centro — work that demands the thing no classroom teaches: hold an audience, read it, adjust in real time, night after night.
For three years she ran the Harlem Open Jam Series, a Monday-night jazz, funk and R&B jam where singers of every level got up in front of a real audience. What she saw was consistent: people weren’t short on talent. They were short on support, perspective, and somewhere to take a risk without it costing them.
Vocal Euphoria came out of that. The work here is specific and practical, built around what your voice is actually doing — not what a textbook says it should do. You sing, she listens, you adjust. Most students hear the difference in their first session, which is usually the part they did not expect.
Nerves are not something you get rid of — they are something you learn to work with. That is the talk, and it is the same thing every student hears in a first session.
If you had told me my vocal ability would improve after just one session, I might not have believed you - but that is exactly what I experienced!!!! Carolyn is truly a vocal sensei, a master at her craft who helps us move past the limits we place on ourselves! Thank you Carolyn!
